  2. Which type of billion is used in this video?

A billion is a number with two distinct definitions:

1,000,000,000, i.e. one thousand million, or 109 (ten to the ninth power), as defined on the short scale.

1,000,000,000,000, i.e. one million million, or 1012 (ten to the twelfth power), as defined on the long scale. This is one thousand times larger than the short scale billion, and equivalent to the short scale trillion.

In the animation “1 billion people” means 1 thousand million people or 1,000,000,000.
Also in the animation, “One trillion liters” means 1,000,000,000,000 or a million millions liters.
In our mother language “un billón” is the equivalent in English to a trillion, whereas “un millardo” is a billion in English.
Because of the English language influence, many people incorrectly say “un billón” when they want to mean “un millardo”.
      ¿Estás de acuerdo?

There are options. The compost toilet is one popular one that uses very little or no water. It is a solution for places where water is scarce. The technology of compost toilets has been around since the late 1930s. This company has small and large scale solutions that do not use the water flush toilet: http://www.clivusmultrum.com/
In Sweden, Holland and Germany, there are small communities that have put into place the practice of EcoSan which uses compost toilets and turn the shit into fertilizer for the community to use.In the USA, John Todd started a project called New Alchemy to treat feces and urine in a more sustainable manner thereby abolishing the flush toilet in many places. http://www.toddecological.com/
